MTS has introduced an analytical report on mobile retail market in
Russia for the third quarter of 2012, prepared by its retail network.
By Q3 2012 volume phone market in Russia in value terms reached 11.7 million units, an increase of 2.3% compared to the same period last year and a 26.3% increase compared to the 2nd quarter of this year.
At the end of the 3rd quarter 2012 the market for phones in Russia in value terms amounted to almost 55 billion rubles, which is 16% more compared to the same period last year and by 30.4% compared to the 2nd quarter of this year.
Ahead of the market in value terms compared with the quantitative annual and quarterly basis is associated with an increase in sales of more complex devices, especially smartphones. In Q3 2012 the average market price of mobile devices sold increased by 13.5% compared to the same period in 2011 and by 3.2% - relative to Q2 2012 - up to 4.7 thousand.
By Q3 2012 Russia had sold 3.4 million smartphones. Compared to the same period last year, sales of smart phones increased by 60% and 40% - compared to Q2 2012.
The share of smartphones in the total number of mobile phones sold by the end of Q3 2012 was 29%.
At the end of the 3rd quarter 2012 the volume of the smartphone market in monetary terms amounted to 36.1 billion rubles, which is 60% more compared to the same period last year and a 35% increase compared to the 2nd quarter of this year.
The share of smartphones in terms of money in the 3rd quarter of this year accounted for 66% of the market of mobile phones - (48% in Q3 2011, 64% in Q2 2012).
In the ranking of popularity of mobile operating systems in the smartphone segment in the Russian market in Q3 consolidated leadership platform Android - the share of smartphones on the Linux operating system has increased to 62.6%. Symbian OS share declined to 12.6%. Closes the top three most popular OS Bada - its share was 12.2%. iOS (6,9%) and Windows Phone (5,1%) finished fourth and fifth positions respectively.
