HTC One V won't get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Owners of the One X and One S are in luck

STRUGGLING PHONE MAKER HTC has spilled the beans on its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update schedule, revealing that the HTC One V won't receive the long awaited upgrade.
The company announced on Monday that while the HTC One X and One S handsets will receive the bump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, devices with 512MB or less of RAM have been ruled out. This means owners of the HTC One V and One C will be left on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich forever.
HTC confessed on its website, "We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android."
It added, "In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information."
HTC has not revealed when the One X and One S will receive the upgrade, saying "there's many aspects to the software development process that make it difficult for us to give specifics on upgrade timing".
There's more bad news, too. HTC also suggested that Android devices launched before 2012 won't get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade either.
It said, "Our goal is to prioritize review for devices launched in 2012 with our numerous carrier partners across multiple regions and then consider our ability to provide updates to products from 2011."
HTC has not yet responded to our request for comment.
