Samsung’s Windows 8 and Windows RT powered devices are branded under the
ATIV brand and it seems Samsung will bring Windows 8 notebooks under
the same nomenclature as well. Samsung will soon launch the ATIV Book 6
laptop in the United States that will run Windows 8.
On the hardware side, the 15.6-inch notebook will boast a full HD (1920×1080) resolution and come with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD and AMD Radeon HD8770M GPU. There’s also WiDi support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, JBL stereo speakers, 720p HD webcam, Gigabit LAN, HDMI and VGA ports, USB 2.0/3.0 ports, backlit keyboard, RAMaccelerator and 8 hours of battery life.
Interestingly, the specs of the ATIV Book 6 are similar to 15.6-inch Series 7 CHRONOS notebook but the default colour and model numbers are totally different. The Series 7 CHRONOS (NP780Z5E-S01UB) is offered in Bare Metal hue whereas the ATIV Book 6 (NP680Z5E-X01US) will come in Mineral Ash Black.
Samsung expects to sell the ATIV Book 6 from $1,199.99.
