Japanese company Japan Display obyavila to develop a new type of liquid crystal color display with low power consumption, operating in reflection (as usual monochrome displays in a wristwatch). The novelty is represented by the quality of picture display as plain paper and with the possibility to display moving images.
The key technology in this display is to optimize the optical properties, recently developed scattering layer. Another feature is the technology of SRAM for each pixel, using technology LTPS, which reduces power consumption to a minimum for still images.
