About HTC Titan
True to its name, HTC Titan display measures Behemoth-like 4.7-inches across. The LCD equivalent of two king-size beds taped together, it’s not only the biggest Windows Phone up till now, and in addition it is one of the biggest smart phones ever made. It has a sleek, thin 9.9mm chassis and the latest version of Microsoft’s smart phone operating system, Windows 7.5 “Mango”; it’s more like a stretch limo than a monster truck.
The HTC Titan comfortably fits into trouser pockets with no problem, hence it is friendly enough for day to day use, but it is hard to use it with one hand (when walking, say), a concern blown up by the failure to install third-party keyboards on Windows Phone, such as Swype.
The HTC Titan is the first phone which is using the new Windows Phone 7.5 update, Mango, an update the platform needed so badly. Even though on a first glance, little seems to have changed, there are a lot of hidden features: you can now switch between applications and still not kill them, add a group of friends as a live home screen tile and even share your 3G connection with a laptop or tablet, or both. The rapid fire camera now saves your personalized settings.
additional to all these there are a few exclusive HTC applications, including HTC’s drab Hub, which serves up weather and stocks after a very long pause, and Connected Media, which lets you stream media from other devices.
The moment you’re logged in, the tile-based design of Windows Phone feels stylish and fun to use. The iPhone’s inert menu screens seem dull by contrast, and that feeling of “Oh, what’s it done now?” most Android users will admit that it is gone.
