Samsung Galaxy Mega gets priced ahead of July release

KOREAN PHONE MAKER Samsung's gargantuan 6.3in Galaxy Mega smartphone has been priced ahead of its July release, courtesy of retailer Clove.
At the Clove website, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is now sitting pretty with a £460 SIM-free price, and is available to order in both black and white models. The retailer hasn't announced an more specific release date than July yet, a timeframe that previously was confirmed by Carphone Warehouse.
A £460 price tag is a bit steeper than we were expecting given that Samsung is marketing the handset as a cheap alternative to the Galaxy Note 2, but it's worth noting that Clove is offering the more expensive 16GB model, rather than the 8GB version.
The handset's specifications include a very large 6.3in HD touchscreen, a dual-core 1.7GHz processor and Google's Android 4.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. This is skinned with Samsung's custom Touchwiz user interface, although it lacks a few of the software features that debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 also features an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MP front-facing webcam, 4G LTE connectivity and a 3,200mAh battery. Despite its size, the device is capable of making phone calls.
Samsung has not announced UK availability details yet, but we've contacted it for more information.
