Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3: From now on pre-order for 699 Euros

In recent days, there was some information about the new mega -series of Samsung . The two phablets Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 should still be on the market in June . After two days ago, speculation about the technical specifications of the device making the rounds today follows an information for the price of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3.

The online retailer-buyer has the Phablet already in the system, so it can be pre-ordered. With its proud 699 euros is currently a sum specified, the disproportionate to the rather mediocre features the mixture of smartphone and tablet stands. This should, however, mention that extremely high prices, especially for Samsung devices are common and this will fall to launch with certainty yet. For 699 euros would Phablet probably otherwise be the shop keeper.

Full HD 720p resolution instead
The details of match-buyer one exception to the speculated  specs that we get to read two days ago. Instead of a 720p display in the description of one is Full HD (1080p) the speech, making the Galaxy  Mega would be 6.3 upgraded directly a whole lot. The remaining properties, such as the dual- core processor, the 8 MP camera and 1.5 GB of RAM are identical to the speculations of the day before yesterday.

Interested parties can the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 preorder here . Since the Galaxy Mega was 6.3 not confirmed officially, is also a delivery date is not yet known.

Galaxy S4′s latest benchmark confirms Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa kills Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600

Today at SamMobile, we received the latest benchmark tests of the Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (Exynos 5 Octa variant) with Samsung’s latest test firmware installed and the results are highly impressive. In previous test firmwares Samsung had clocked the Exynos 5 Octa CPU to 1.8GHz but in the most recent test firmware it has been decreased to 1.6GHz, as Samsung officially announced.
There are, currently, 3 variants of the Galaxy S4:
GT-I9500 – Exynos 5 Octa 1.6 GHz without LTE
GT-I9505 – Snapdragon 600 1.9 GHz with LTE
SHV-E300S – Exynos 5 Octa 1.8 GHz with LTE
Samsung has given a slight performance boost to the Korean variant of the Galaxy S4 by increasing the Exynos 5 Octa’s clock speed to 1.8GHz. Do keep in mind these benchmarks are not from the Korean variant (SHV-E300S) but from the international variant (GT-I9500) which is clocked at 1.6GHz and it still blows Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 SoC out of the water!
Our insider’s Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) scored a whooping 28018 points on Antutu. The Snapdragon equipped Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) scored 23607 points, as benchmarked by the folks at GSMArena. We expect the Korean variant (SHV-E300S) to score 30000+ points and one thing is for sure, the Korean Galaxy S4 SHV-E300S will be the fastest device on the planet.
Now don’t be sad if your country is not getting the Exynos 5 Octa variant of the Galaxy S4 as you will not notice a performance difference in day to day tasks between the Snapdragon 600 equipped Galaxy S4 and Exynos 5 Octa equipped Galaxy S4. However, the Exynos variant will be faster while using high CPU extensive apps and will also be more power efficient thanks to ARM’s big.LITTLE technology.

What You May Not Know About GALAXY S4 Innovative Technology

The GALAXY S4, Samsung Electronics’ latest flagship smartphone unveiled at Samsung Unpacked 2013, is designed to get users closer to what matters in life and bring their world together. Long before it was unveiled, in spectacular fashion at Radio City Music Hall in New York, interest was brewing around the globe. Now that the GALAXY S4 has been released, let’s take a closer look at some of the truly innovative features it has to offer.
True innovation involves giving more meaning and comfort to the lives of users through new technologies. This is the unyielding philosophy that enabled the creation of the GALAXY S4.  Initially, users may be fascinated with the GALAXY S4’s larger screen and battery capacity, all housed in a light and slim body, but as they learn more about the smartphone’s features it becomes clear that innovative elements were reflected not only in the hardware, but also the GALAXY S4 features some truly dazzling sensor and recognition technologies.
The GALAXY S4 has seamlessly combined nine sensors and a wide array of recognition technologies that understand user behavior, thus delivering an effortless user experience, making things convenient and hassle-free. This goes beyond simple functions like making phone calls and running applications; users can focus on themselves and loved ones, with the GALAXY S4 working with them to strip away the complications of life.
Better health, better environment with GALAXY S4
Samsung is committed to creating innovative products inspired by people, for people. Each innovative feature of GALAXY S4 was developed from the insights and needs we found from our consumers all around the world. This is especially true of our dedication to our customers’ wellbeing.

The S Health function of the GALAXY S4 enables the smartphone to work with the user, providing an all-in-one companion that offers nothing but positive support. Below are just some of the features that aid users.
The temperature/humidity sensor, a new addition to the GALAXY S4, identifies temperature and humidity levels in the surrounding environment through a small hole located at the base of the smartphone. It then visually displays what the optimal comfort levels are for the user on the S Health screen.
The accelerometer measures the smartphone’s movement and is used as a Walking Mate, serving as a passometer that counts the number of steps a user has taken. The barometer ascertains the atmospheric pressure of a user’s current location and determines the altitude. This is especially handy when the user is walking on inclined planes, such as a hill or mountain, because the barometer can accurately calculate how many calories are burned according to the atmosphere pressure and altitude.

The RGB Sensor, located on the top-left of the screen, measures the intensity of the light and is applied to the Samsung Adapt Display, which optimizes screen brightness and sharpness. As a result, eye fatigue is reduced when the user reads e-books or enjoys diverse applications.
Ensuring a more comfortable, easier life by understanding user behavior
The planning phase of the GALAXY S4 was no easy task, and much thought was put into creating an effortless and more meaningful user experience. The results are plain to see, and so well-designed you may not even notice. So just in case, we’ll give you a quick summary.
A number of sensors are featured in the GALAXY S4; sensors that are smart enough to detect a user’s face, voice and motion, enable screen control with no need for finger touch activation, and deliver effortless tasking.
To begin, the two sensors located next to the front camera are used for gesture and proximity sensing. The gesture sensor recognizes hand movements by detecting infrared rays that are reflected from the user’s palm. This sensor was applied to the Air Gesture function of the GALAXY S4, allowing users to accept a call, change songs, or scroll a web page up and down all with a wave of their hand.
The proximity sensor recognizes situations where the user places the smartphone close to his or her face. It can immediately make a phone call and turn off the screen to prevent unnecessary touch interaction while the user is on the phone
The camera-based face recognition technology is used for Samsung Smart Pause, which pauses a video when the user looks away and resumes when the user returns, and Samsung Smart Scroll, which allows the user to scroll up and down without touching the screen.
Samsung Smart Scroll is actually an outcome of the seamless application of two technologies. The first is face recognition technology, which recognizes a user’s face when he or she looks at the screen and allows the user to tilt his or her face up and down to scroll the screen. Additionally, users can conveniently scroll the screen up and down by tilting the smartphone. This is possible because of the gyro sensor, which recognizes the inclination of the smartphone.
Air View allows the user to preview the content of an email, S Planner, image gallery or video without having to open it, just by hovering their finger over the item. It works thanks to Finger Hovering technology activated by measuring electric currents that change when the user’s hand is in close proximity to the touch screen. First debuted with GALAXY Note II, this is the first time the technology can be used without an S Pen.
Voice recognition technology was adopted for the S Translator and S Voice Drive. For the GPS that is activated by voice based on S Voice Drive, a geomagnetic sensor is used for precise bearing determination.

Finally, the Samsung Optical Reader uses Optical Character Reader (OCR) technology to recognize text and automatically recognizes information using the camera including e-mail, website addresses, telephone numbers, and QR codes. It then suggests useful follow-up functions such as translation, search, text message, email and call.
Low-power-consuming sensor platform reduces power consumption
If all this extra power has you concerned about battery life, fear not. The GALAXY S4 has a Micro Controller Unit (MCU) that activates the Application Processor (AP) only when needed and makes it possible to control the sensors without activating AP. As a result, the power consumption of GALAXY S4 is optimized, letting you enjoy these features longer.
Even when the same-version of Android OS is used, there is a difference in battery performance among manufacturers dependent on the degree of software operation optimization. Despite the inclusion of various sensors, the GALAXY S 4’s power consumption has been optimized using Samsung Electronics’ unique technologies and expertise.

Samsung wanted to create something different – something that would bring about change to a person’s life in a meaningful way. The GALAXY S4 is designed to get users closer to what matters most in life and bring all their different busy worlds together, so that they can experience life without boundaries or limitations. The GALAXY S4 features many diverse innovative functions that work subtly in the background to benefit users as they go about their daily lives. Anticipated to serve as a life companion to many people all across the globe, the GALAXY S4 was launched on 327 carriers in about 155 countries.

Hidden innovation in the Galaxy S4

Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 a month ago and at the presentation Samsung didn’t spoke much about the hardware because everything is about the software this time! How to use the Galaxy S4 in a fast way. The Galaxy S4 seamlessly combined nine sensors and a wide array of recognition technologies that will understand user behavior, thus delivering an effortless user experience, making things convenient and hassle-free. This goes beyond simple functions like making phone calls and running applications; users can focus on themselves and loved ones, with the Galaxy S4 working with them to strip away the complications of life.

Sony India launches Xperia SP for INR 27,490

Sony has announced the launch of Xperia SP mid-range Android phone in the Indian market. The phone will join company’s high-end Xperia Z and ZL phones that were released in the country last month. Company has priced Sony Xperia SP at INR 27,490, which is a decent price, but will have a lot of competition from phones like Galaxy S III and HTC One X as they have got price-cuts recently.

In my view, more aggressive pricing would have been great, as company pursued with Xperia Z and Xperia ZL phones, both of which are currently selling for INR 37,990 and INR 35,990 respectively.

Sony Xperia SP was originally announced last month and packs decent mid-range specs. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and would likely be updated to 4.2.2 and next Android version, but nothing has been officially announced till now.

On the imaging front, Sony Xperia SP comes with 8MP rear camera with LED flash, and VGA front camera. In addition, the phone features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board storage, and microSD card slot that support up to 32GB.

The phone sports a 4.6-inch 720p HD display and is powered by 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core processor with the Adreno 320 GPU.  Among other features, Sony has included NFC, GPS with Glonass, and the usual connectivity options.

According to a press release issued by the company, Sony Xperia SP will come pre-loaded with ‘Sony Music’ music-streaming app with six months of free unlimited music streaming, as well as ‘Sony LIV’ video streaming app.

Availability:

Sony Xperia SP will be available in Sony stores as well as major retail stores beginning mid-April in Black and White colours.

Namco Bandai on mobile gaming in 2013

Namco Bandai is a six billion dollar corporation that’s been around since 2006. It makes video games and toys. On Windows Phone, they’re best known for titles like Flight Control, Puzzle Quest and the chaotic but awesome I Love Katamari.
We met with Namco Bandai’s Alex Adjadj recently to talk about the company’s success on Nokia phones.

Nokia has been what Alex calls “an obvious partner” for the company since the days of the first  nGage.

More recently, it’s been the Asha platform that has received the most attention. Last July, we reported that 22 new games had been launched by the publisher for the platform.

It’s sometimes quite easy to underestimate the size of the market for more basic mobile phones, but to take one region, Latin America, 80 per cent of the phones in circulation aren’t smart. And apps for these phones make up over 50 per cent of the company’s revenues for the region.

Nokia has actively aided Namco Bandai in its marketing efforts. It has created gift and theme packs, and other promotions. In some cases, a selection of free games are preloaded onto the phone.

Alex notes that the phones don’t necessarily need to be the most powerful in the portfolio to deliver great experiences.

“One of our key titles is Pacman. [Originally created by Namco for arcade machines 33 years ago!]. There are more and less fancy versions of the game, but the core experience, what it means to ‘play Pacman’, can be delivered across the board.

“It remains a terrific game experience. We can deliver great value for money. And people across the world have enormous fondness for the title.”

Not an easy game to play

But Alex says that the mobile games economy has some serious issues.

“Five years ago, there were maybe a couple of thousand mobile games in total. Now there are over 200,000. That makes it really hard to discover new games. Most people just stick to the top 20 charts. That’s very unhealthy.”

“So it means we have to work harder. We have to work with manufacturers and retailers to get higher up their agenda. We also have to push ourselves to take our games to new markets, such as China.

“Nokia’s international reach has been really helpful with this.”

Driving safely while staying connected

We love to be constantly connected. Thanks to modern technology we can text, check Facebook and find our way around town wherever we are. But in the car, trying to stay online while driving raises major safety issues.

This is why authorities are limiting the use of smartphones while driving.  They are even questioning navigation services designed to ease the driving experience.
How can we then drive safely while staying connected? At HERE, we think that the risk isn’t coming from the information per se, but how we present information to people and enable them to use it.
Connected driving
Indeed, over time drivers have been able to receive more and more information. From sensors about pressure levels to front-mounted radars that detect imminent collisions – more information for the driver now equals more safety. The next evolutionary step is a connected car via smartphones or embedded systems.
At HERE we believe that a connected car is part of creating a holistic connected driving experience that keeps drivers safe yet connected, while allowing them to communicate and enjoy entertainment too. It solves the problems that people face as they move through their daily life, both in and out of their car, helping to save time, fuel and money.

HERE driving experience
On smartphones, HERE Drive is optimized for in-car use. The interface has been designed to use at arm’s length; voice commands are clearer because they have been recorded in studio;destinations can be pinned to start and with just a tap on the destination tile you can start turn-by-turn navigation.
In-car systems with HERE rely on sensors to capture more accurate map data such as road height, slope and curvature. Integrating that detailed map content with the car system makes safety features like adaptive cruise control, adaptive front lights, curve speed warnings, driver alerts and speed limit advisories possible.
“Features like those provided by HERE appeal to a consumer’s desire for fuel efficiency. Landmark navigation has been a need of a significant portion of consumers that connected systems can finally fulfil”, said Chris Schreiner, Director of Automotive Consumer Insights at Strategy Analytics.

Human driving
Our aim is to make the driving experience more human and to help drivers make sense of the world around them, whether or not they are in their cars.
The HERE connected driving experience transforms the car into a powerful smart device to help people around the world meet the challenges of driving today such as traffic congestion, pollution and parking.
