South Korea’s electronic behemoth Samsung Electronics will showcase its
110-inch UHD (ultra high definition) screen TV at the US Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) to be held in early January of 2013. This is the
largest-ever UHD TV screen that has been unveiled so far.
“At the next year’s CES to be open on January 8 in Las Vegas, the US, Samsung will have its 110-inch UHD TV on display,” noted an official of Samsung Sunday. “Not to mention ultra-sized screen, our UHD TV will boast the best-ever definition and design that you haven’t experienced before.”
A 75-inch full HD TV launched July last year is the largest that Samsung has commercialized so far. Samsung unveiled its 70-inch UHD TV at the IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2010 in September. Last month, its 85-inch UHD TV received a CES 2013 Innovation Award but has not been made public yet.
A 110-inch is the maximum size that can be manufactured through the eighth generation LCD production line technology, the industry sources said.
The new UHD TV is expected to outclass the existing models even in terms of definition. It will be capable of screening the pictures with four times more resolution than full 1080 HD displays, delivering high-definition resolution for crystal-clear image with vivid colors.
The competition in the global market over large and high-definition resolution TVs will turn fiercer with Samsung’s launching 110-inch UHD TV. The industry is expecting that the UHD TV, along with OLED (organic light emitting diode) TV, will be emerging as one of next generation TV models.
