Google undercutting LG to offer super-cheap Nexus 4

SIM-free is the only way to go
It's been revealed that the Google Nexus 4 is being heavily subsidised by the search giant in a bid to attract customers, while the handset's manufacturer LG is flogging it at full price.
TheNextWeb has found that LG is selling the 8GB Nexus 4 for £478 (around $765/$AU732) to some retailers in Europe, while Google is offering the same 8GB smartphone for just £239 ($299/AU$349) – that's around £240 ($460/AU$480) cheaper.
The huge price discrepancy has led to one Spanish retailer to cancel its plans to stock the Nexus 4, after it found out LG would be charging the inflated price.

Raised eyebrows

When the Google Nexus 4 price was announced everyone was surprised at just how cheap the quad-core handset was, sporting an HD 4.7-inch display, 8MP camera, NFC technology and Android 4.2.
While we're not surprised that Google is dipping into its own pocket to offer a super-cheap device, the sheer price difference between itself and LG is almost comical.
Google Nexus 4 contracts have appeared a little on the steep side, and we now know why, so we can only recommend going down the SIM-free route.
